CUMIN aka Cuminum cyminum is a flowering plant native to a territory including the Middle East and stretching far east to India. Cumin is a widely used spice in Indian, Mid Eastern, North African and Mexican cooking which are some of our favorite cuisines. It has a warm unique flavor. Cumin is used in the cuisines of many cultures in both whole and ground form.
Cumin is used in many ethnic cuisines, especially Eastern Indian, Mexican and Southwest American dishes. Cumin is an important spice in couscous dishes from Northern Africa. We use it to make our own Indian masala mix or curry blends as well as salsa and Spanish beans.

How to use:
To grind, use a pepper mill, electric spice grinder, or mortar and pestle. Cumin is best when ground immediately prior to being used in your dish. Always store left over spice in an airtight glass jar for lasting quality and freshness.
TIP: To enhance the flavor of your cumin, lightly toast the cumin in a dry saute pan over low to medium heat first and let cool completely, before grinding.
